"Diary of Volunteer"
07.04-

On 4 July 2025 at 5:30 p.m., YermilovCentre invites you to a special event — a meeting with world-renowned British photographer Mark Neville.
With the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, British artist Mark Neville founded the charity Postcode Ukraine and began combining the delivery of humanitarian aid to frontline cities with his own documentary practice.
Part of Postcode Ukraine's current activities is Mark Neville's new photo book, "Diary of Volunteer". It focuses on mental health initiatives for all demographic groups across Ukraine. The photo book is distributed free of charge in Europe and America to garner support for Ukraine's needs.
At the meeting at the YermilovCentre, the artist will present his photo projects on the themes of war, communities and trauma, and share his experience of working in conflict zones, particularly in Ukraine. Mark will talk about his work on the book "Diary of Volunteer", his experience co-founding a charity organisation, and his work with contemporary photography that touches on the everyday lives of Ukrainians defending their homes, their communities, and their country.
The presentation with Mark Neville will cover the following topics:
• Volunteering and the social component of photographic practice
• Conceptuality and transformation in documentary photography
• How to tell the story of Ukraine to the world
Mark will also talk about his own artistic and documentary practice in the context of the war in Ukraine and the ethical issues that accompany contemporary photography. We will discuss how to work with the principles of freedom and democracy through art, which are the focus of Western audiences and which are addressed in Mark Neville's latest book, "Diary of Volunteer".
The programme of the meeting includes:
· Presentation of Mark Neville's work
· Question and answer session
· Informal communication
