Lecture by Tatiana Pavlova: "Let's make a book" Game Photography"
07.08-07.08

We invite you to a "Let's make a book" Game Photography" lecture by Tatiana Pavlova on July 8 at 16:00.
Tetyana Pavlova is a doctor of art history, a historian of photography, the first researcher of the Kharkiv School of Photography, a direct witness and participant in events that took place in this community since the mid-1970s.
In this lecture, she will talk about the formation of the phenomenon of "game photography" in Kharkov. As Ms. Tetyana herself comments, “… In the 1980s, there was such a sacred concept for our Kharkiv circle as game photography. Every day, modest geniuses, like Boris Mikhailov, gathered in the ZhEK basement, which had previously been used to organize children's leisure clubs. At that time, Mikhailov and I were fired from work in Soviet institutions for some conditional reason (this was called a 'reduction'). Then the adventurous director of ‘Panorama’ Lenya Zaslavsky took us into his game. On the remnants of a once powerful Komsomol resource, he created an institution with the bombastic name ‘Ukrainian Experimental Creative Association of Iso-Cinema and Photo Art’. We were free, from morning till evening we talked about photography, designed and created exhibitions, in contact with the nonconformist world. And even then Mikhailov said: ‘Let’s make a book“ Game Photography ”’! It was a projection of the carnival paradigm that is launched in each transition period. It was marked in the late 1980s. The game was the release of creative energy needed to move into the time and space of the unknown… "
