Unfinished 2023

Category:

The exhibition "Unfinished 2023" is the sixth annual diary project that the artist has been carrying out day after day throughout the year (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021).

"It's good, that I decided not to name it "The Year of Victory' - which was a trendy wording at the time I started the project. The war is still ongoing. The war still takes the best people away. Too many fighters will never visit me at my home, talk to me in my little kitchen. Each picture is unfinished. Each picture is missing something - just like a missing day in the year. Seems like some part of me will forever stay in 2023, and the rest of me will fight the Evil till I can", – the artist recalls.

Gamlet's drawings, created during the war, support Kharkiv residents, thank the military and volunteers, and give them confidence that the city will stand firm. The war changed not only the content of Hamlet's drawings, but also his lifestyle. He is actively volunteering, raising funds, helping to evacuate Kharkiv residents, and much more. Now his works appear on the ruins of bombed-out buildings and plywood-boarded windows. The exhibition will feature 365 sketches reproduced by the artist on paper during 2023.

The exhibition will be open from the 28th of January to the 3rd of March.

Yermilov Centre is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00 to 19:00.

Entrance is free.
