UKRAINE – KHARKIV: INDOMITABLE

Category:

The international exhibition "UKRAINE – KHARKIV:  INDOMITABLE", dedicated to Ukraine's courageous fight for freedom, has opened and you can already see some of the posters in lightboxes on the streets of the city! The exhibition includes works by artists from 36 countries, collected by the Association of Graphic Designers "4th Block" in the anti-war collection "Stand with Ukraine".

"In April 2022, the collection of posters submitted by the international design community already included several hundred colourful sheets of protest against the russian invasion. A wave of anti-war demonstrations swept through many countries in Europe, North and South America. Our posters were actively used by public activists in support of Ukraine. And here, in the midst of human events and experiences, the posters were absolutely appropriate. They rallied people around the ideas of resistance, confrontation with the Russian aggressor and victory over evil," says Oleg Veklenko, co-organiser of the project and President of the 4th Block International Environmental Poster Triennial.

The poster, as one of the most powerful forms of expression, allowed us to express pain, fear, admiration, hope, sympathy and support for Ukraine in the universal language of art. In May 2022, the International Festival of Plaster will take place at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Toruń, dedicated to Ukrainian themes. Posters from this festival can also be seen on the streets of the city.

The organisers would like to express their sincere gratitude to the designers who supported Ukraine with their works, to the International Festival of Graphic Design "Plaster" (Centre for Contemporary Art in Toruń, Poland), and to Krzysztof Białowicz and Agnieszka Rzemiszewska personally, for their active cooperation and support. The exhibition was created with the support of the Kharkiv City Council.

The project is implemented within the framework of the ZMINA 2.0 project "Subgrants for Cultural Projects" of the IZOLYATSIA Foundation with the financial support of the European Union.
